About Gallatin County
Gallatin County's position in Montana is distinctive by containing the northwestern corner of Yellowstone National Park and sharing borders with both Idaho and Wyoming. Its southern border with Idaho lies on the Continental Divide. The south end of its long skinny shape is largely covered by the Beaverhead National Forest. Hebgen Lake and West Yellowstone are located in the national forest. The northern end of the county contains the more populous region around Bozeman, a town of over 20,000 people and the county seat.
