About Snake River

The Snake River has its source at Lewis Lake in Yellowstone-National-Park, from whence it flows through Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, and through the mountains along the western border of Wyoming. Turning west, it passes through the Grand Canyon of the Snake River, enters Idaho, crossing the state width-wise through the Snake River Basin. Upon reaching the Oregon border, it turns northward, forming the western border of Idaho for many miles, then it turns west again into Washington, where it joins the Columbia River, and flows into the Pacific Ocean.
